New Music of The Day – XC : Real Sympathy – The Gromble

GrombleBandUpdatePictureCouchColoredThe Gromble return with a real slice of hazy, West Coast beach pop to brighten these cold days. With their typical blend of orchestral alt-folk and sweeping indie grace they head into territory that will see them being mentioned in the same sentences as Neutral Milk Hotel and Bright Eyes. It is their ability to take sub-psychedelic sounds of the past and reinvent them for a modern, digital age which sets them apart from backward glancing, pastiche pushers and nostalgic flag wavers who miss the point that music is a constant evolution and even though you can clearly see the bands starting point, what is far more interesting is where they are heading.
