3 AM  –  Lucy Mason (reviewed by Dave Franklin)

I’ve said it before, probably in previous Lucy Mason reviews, but dream-pop and indie genres make perfect bedfellows. The former brings a wonderful haziness and it softens edges whilst the later adds a contemporary cool and accessibility, the meeting of these two worlds has created some of my favourite music as recent times.  3 AM is certainly up there with that group.

Pop music can try to hard to please, can get too mesmerised by its own image and the result is a rigid, set in its way style but Lucy Mason is happy to step out of comfort zones and drift effortlessly between modern indie-pop worlds and more distant 4AD inspired sonic pastures. The result is near perfect for the discerning pop-picker of today being both elegant and unforgettable.
