US / UK troubadour Josh Okeefe is delighted to announce a busy summer schedule of festival appearances and live shows with the singular Lindi Ortega.
The aspiring singer-songwriter from England via Tennessee will be supporting Lindi at a string of UK dates kicking off at Sheffield’s The Leadmill on 5th June 2018 through to her final show at The Garage in London on the 14th June.
However, extending his visit with a number of festival appearances across the land, there’ll be many more chances to catch Josh throughout the month as he calls into the likes of Fire In The Mountain Festival (Aberwrystwyth), and other festivals across the summer. Full dates and details below.
Turning heads with his first tour of the UK last summer, Josh returns following a year of near constant travelling across the US and omnipresently performing with artists across the Nashville scene at noteworthy spots like Layla’s and Roberts Western World on Lower Broadway where one could see him either taking centre stage or playing the harmonica for someone else. On his ongoing quest to pen songs founded on substance, the last year has seen Josh notably put in emotional performances at Grenfell Tower’s Wall of Truth (a public space collating first hand accounts, facts, testimonies and statements created by and for members of the community affected), as well as performing at a gathering for Black Lives in Tennessee (as reported on by Huffington Post); both of which have been hard-hitting and inspirational new chapters in Josh’s own living songbook.
Celebrated genre-defier Ryan Vail is returning this April with his anticipated new album ‘Distorted Shadows’, a call for art, soul and self-belief during difficult times. The music is informed by generations of electronic pioneers and reveals an interest in classical forms. ‘Distorted Shadows’ is what it sounds like to be a creative person in 2018, surrounded by dread and chaos but determined to find meaning beyond it.
Ryan Vail lives and records in Derry and he’s been releasing music since 2012. A succession of EPs on the Belfast imprint Quiet Arch confirmed his talent for mood and sonic intimacy. He was compared to The xx and New Order but Ryan’s method was distinct and he made a defiant jump in 2015 with a mini album, ‘Sea Legs’. Working with the songwriter Ciaran Lavery, he created miniature stories, set against the vast Atlantic roar. He was nominated for the 2015 Northern Ireland Music Prize alongside eventual winner SOAK, Duke Special and Tim Wheeler of Ash.
Hot on the heels of their rammed and raucous Winter tour, Northern psychedelic punks The Lovely Eggs announce their next series of live dates for May & June 2018. The shows will follow their current February gigs and the release of their forthcoming album This Is Eggland (out 23 February on Egg Records.)
The Lovely Eggs are one of the most unique, innovative and genuine bands on the British Underground music scene. Setting themselves apart from the mainstream, they’ve built up a cult following which is due to blow wide open with their mild-melting new album, produced by Flaming Lips/ Mercury Rev producer, Dave Fridmann. You can sample what’s in store with their brand new single, which is out now. They will be supported by comedian Phill Jupitus (in his guise as Porky the Poet) on all dates.
This Is Eggland is heavier and more in-your-face than anything they’ve done previously. Married couple Holly Ross (guitar/vocals) and David Blackwell (drums) bring together a fierce DIY ethos, surreal sense of humour and kitchen-sink realism. Dave Fridmann lends his magic dust to bring out the best of The Lovely Eggs’ explosive blend of motoric krautrock, 60s psychedelia and punk rock attitude, all flipped over and egged up.
